During an archaeological dig on a UNESCO site in Akita, purple grains dating back 1000 years were discovered at Hotta No Saku. in 1996 Akita Seishu was asked by the Ministry of Agriculture to produce sake from this heritage grain.
The result: A clean, refreshing sake with quite savoury characteristics. Aroma of porcini, forest floor and cut hay. Palate of watermelon, fuji apple with refreshing acidity.
A very moreish sake that will make you think you are drinking rosé. Drink chilled or on the rocks.
