Hanzo Junmai Kioke Shikomi 720ml
This is a rare breed of sake fermented in a large hand coopered wooden tank and is limited to a very tidy 1000 bottles per year. It is also a lesson on how temperature can greatly affect the taste of sake.
Made from Kami No Ho rice this sake is specifically brewed to be enjoyed Jo-kan (about 45 degrees celsius) and when served chilled or even at room temperature it can be described as boring at best. But when warmed to it’s target temp it becomes a revelation. Winner of the coveted national Kanzake Grand Gold medal in 2013. The subtly rich and mellow palate becomes a medley of spiced orange, banana and buttercream with a velvety mouthfeel.
