Hanzo Junmai Kioke Shikomi (left) - Winner of the coveted national Kanzake Grand Gold medal in 2013. The subtly rich and mellow palate is a medley of spiced orange, banana and buttercream with a velvety mouthfeel. Limited to just 1000 bottles per year, this sake is fermented in a hand coopered cedar tank. Drink at 45ºc

Kariho Junkei Karakuchi (right) - Amazing sake at any temperature, but when it's cold outside, it is perfect to drink at about 45ºc. Aromas of freshly steamed rice with a full palate of banana, cream, citrus and spice. Dry but not super dry.

Kirinzan Chokarakuchi (middle) - Classic old school Niigata style, dry sake. This is the type enjoyed by many an oji san (old men) all over Japan. If you are of the opinion that sake should be clean, dry and easy to drink, this will be your jam. A simple sake with characteristics of macadamia, buttermilk and spice with a short clean finish. Try at 55ºc.
